On November 24th, Divine Vines was honoured to be a part of The Night of New Beginnings, a Covenant House Charity Gala event. As one of Vancouver’s premiere florists, Divine Vines provided floral displays for the high-profile gala, which invited guests to enjoy appetizers and cocktails at the beautiful Vancouver Art Gallery.
Supported by TD bank, The Night of New Beginnings gala was put on in support of Covenant House’s 30 Days for 30 Nights campaign. Covenant House is dedicated to providing help to youth living on the street and the 30 Days for 30 Nights campaign works to gain additional support for their busiest time of year: December.
Covenant House not only provides street youth with a hot meal and a warm bed, but they offer counselling services and an opportunity to change their lives for the better and for the long term. Their work is so important that it has gained the attention and support of some well-known personalities, like local boy Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds has been a strong supporter of Covenant House Vancouver and this year he topped his generosity by donating a one of a kind auction item: a trip to Hollywood to meet the actor and join him at a movie premiere. The night was also attended by special guest and supporter, W. Brett Wilson of Dragon’s Den fame and hosted by TV personality Elaine Lui of eTalk.
With prizes and personalities like that it is no wonder that this year’s Night for New Beginnings raised $129,000 towards Covenant House’s amazing work. Divine Vines is grateful for having been apart of this event that will mean real change in the the lives of Vancouver’s street youth.
